Town Hall Meeting 9-16-18

Stillwater Free Lutheran Church

Town Hall Meeting

September 16th, 2018

The Before/ After School Program is up and running! Neila is running things for the morning group from about 6:00-7:30 a.m. Monday through Thursday with 5 kids on average. Fridays are a late start, so the bus comes around 8 and there are 10 kids. They have a snack, games, exercises and devotions each day. Sherri is teaching the afternoon group. She is here from about 2:30-6:00 p.m. each day with 6-11 kids in attendance on various days. She also has snack time, games and devotions. They also go outside to run off some energy and have some homework time. These programs are always in need of volunteers, so if you have any time that you could devote to being here to help, let Sherri know!

Our building committee is still planning to move the pavilion to a new location but is not planning to have a concrete floor until a permanent location is decided (once we begin building our new building). The new building project is on a 5-year plan and we are on track! We are waiting on COSA approval before we can begin the dirt work and the well will be connected soon.

Congratulations to Lavonne, she is the new National WMF president! Please keep her in your prayers, this is a big job!

The AWANA, Youth Group and Bible Study programs have adjusted their times to accommodate volunteers. Please join us at 5:30 on Wednesdays for dinner and at 6:00 help the AWANA kids learn their verses for 30 minutes. The Junior Youth Group will have class from 6:00-7:00 and the Seniors will have class from 7:00-8:00 so that they can help with AWANA too. We have started a plan to credit each student for their volunteer time, credits will be applied to youth trips! The AWANA program has been having 20-25 kids each week and about 10 volunteers. The goal is to have one-on-one time with each child, so they can memorize their verses more efficiently. Bible Study will begin at 6:40 so that volunteers can still participate.

Sunday School is also in session! Between services the children are learning about how “Jesus Teaches about God’s Kingdom” in the classroom downstairs. Look in the foyer for the volunteer teacher sign-up! All the teaching materials and craft suggestions are provided. At the same time the adults are studying the “City on a Hill” in the fellowship hall. Please plan to stay after early service or come early to late service so you don’t miss out on these learning opportunities!

Interest in a men’s group has been shown by Bob Stanton, if you are interested in forming a group please contact him. The group would meet on a certain day and time and have Bible Study and fellowship time and possibly a meal.

Small groups are also being formed. Some leaders have been contacted so be expecting a call when the groups start meeting. These groups will also have a Bible Study and fellowship time with a possible meal once a month.

Ladies are all invited to Bonnie’s house on Tuesdays at 1:30 for Bible Study!

There will not be official choir practice this year, but if you are interested in singing in the choir please let Bonnie know.

There was talk of when we would take down the tent; Ken, Paul, Michael, Pastor Craig and Darryl took it down Monday evening. Thank you!!

Craig is organizing the Prayer Union, Tuesdays at 6:30 p.m. seems to be the best time to meet so far.

A winter neighborhood newsletter was suggested. Please get any information that you would like included to Nicole by October 12th.
